Individual
Qualifications
To qualify for membership, an individual must be:
- an advocate & solicitor practising IP, or
- a registered patent agent practising the profession of a patent agent and holding a valid practising certificate.
Privileges
An individual member is:
- eligible to vote
- eligible to hold office
- entitled to attend meetings of APAA
Organisation
Qualifications
To qualify for membership, an organisation must comprise:
- one or more advocate & solicitors practising IP, or
- one or more registered patent agents practising the profession of a patent agent and holding a valid practising certificate.
Privileges
An organisation member is:
- Eligible to vote
- Entitled to be represented by up to a maximum of 3 representatives (or such number as decided by APAA)
Associate
Qualifications
In-house IP lawyers, in-house registered patent agents, IP teachers and those having a direct connection to the field of IP may apply for associate membership.
Privileges
An associate member may be invited to attend events of the association but shall not be entitled to vote, hold office, be a member of APAA or attend meetings of APAA.
